Abstract


Direct and indirect effects of climatic factors on flowering of clove tree.

Influence of climatic factors on clove production studies at the Cibinong experimental garden for the period 1977 to 1990. The objective was to evaluated the direct and indirect effects of climatic factors on flowering of clove tree. The method used was the path and regression analysis. The result shows that there exist direct and indirect effects of climatic factors on the intensity of flowering of clove tree. The direct effect of rainfall and it’s indirect effect via relative humidity are dominant influencing flowering of clove tree, where the relationship has a fifth degree of polynom. Direct and indirect effects of other climatic factors such as temperature and intensity of radiation have relatively small effects on flowering of clove tree.
