Author Guidelines


BULETIN PLASMA NUTFAH is a primary scientific and also review paper published by Indonesian Center for Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Resources Research and Development (ICABIOGRAD), Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD), Ministry of Agriculture. This journal contain primary research and review publication covering on the area of genetic resources including exploration, characterization, evaluation, conservation, diversity, traditional knowledge, management and policy / regulation, of all kinds of genetic resources: plants, animals, fishes, insects and microbes that have never been published on any publication media.

Paper Submission

The submitted manuscript must not have been published or not being on an evaluated process in other media; has been approved by the author team (attached by ethical statement) as the responsible parties for the manuscript. The publisher is not responsible for any claims or compensation requests for matters relating to the content of the manuscript. Manuscript sent in the form of softcopy or electronic file through e-journal application. Registration must be sent to URL and attached with a letter to the head Indonesian Center for Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Resources Research and Development (ICABIOGRAD) as Supplementary File. Each submitted script must follow the format in writing guidelines and template for the author. Manuscripts whose format does not conform to the guidelines will not be processed and will be returned to the author to be customizable first. Each submitted script typed on A4 paper on one page, margin border is 2 cm on all side of paper, letters font is Times New Roman with size 11, two spaces, while for table and picture using font size 9 with single-spaced. Each page is numbered sequentially on the bottom right; the maximum number of pages is 17 pages (including tables and pictures). Authors must follow the rules of writing in Indonesian language and in accordance with the guidelines from the Development and Language Center.

Manuscript Preparation

Buletin Plasma Nutfah publishes articles both in Indonesian and English. Use of term must follow the guidelines of Guidance and Language Development. Manuscript in English must follow English (U.S).

The manuscripts are arranged in the following order: Title, Author and Institution, Abstract (Indonesia), Keywords, and Abstract (English), Keywords, Introduction, Material and Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgment (if required), Bibliography and Appendices if required.


Brief, clear, describe the content of the manuscript, informative (not more than 15 words), written in Indonesian (all capital letters) and English (capital letters only the beginning of a sentence, italics). The Latin name of the plant/animal which has been familiar is not part of a word in the title.

Author and Institution Writer: The name is written complete, not abbreviated, without title, written capital for each beginning of the word and the name of the first author is the lead author. Corresponding author or primary author includes a personal email address (corresponding author). The author's name for corresponding is underlined. Institution name and address comes with street name, zip code and city name. If the author is more than one and the address is different, then the address of each author is listed. Description of the author’s addresses completing with the number of the superscript form if the author is more than one institution.

Abstract: It is the main information of manuscript, which includes background, purpose, method (completed with location and time of research), result, conclusion, implication, suggestion, or follow up (optional). Abstract is written in Indonesian and English maximum of 250 words (Times New Roman, size11, single space). Abstract in English must accordance with standard rules and has been checked with Grammar or other systems.

Keywords: Selected searchable words (maximum 5 keywords consist of compound words or words that indicate the essence of the manuscript). Ordered alphabetically, Latin names are written at the beginning (no authors) and are not in the title and written in lowercase except the name of the genus of capital. Keywords are written in Indonesia and English.

Introduction: Contains background, formulation of the problem to be solved, relevant bibliography, and purpose. The destination statement is written clearly in the last paragraph. The references were cited using the Mendeley program ( with Style University of Worcester-Harvard.

Material and Method: include location and time, experimental design, ways of implementation and analysis method (written in sub-chapter), in aim other researchers can repeat the experiment. Subchapter title is written with capital at the beginning of a sentence with bold font. Research that conducts in the field must be supplemented with agroecology data such as elevation, soil type, rainfall and rainy day, climatic type and soil analysis (for fertilization research), Origin of seed gain / microbial / animal test etc. must be mentioned, observation parameters are described following with statistical analysis.

Result and Discussion: Result is written clearly, if necessary using table, graph, diagram, photo, painting/drawing, and illustration. Result is written on several sub-chapters in accordance with the information topic. Tittle of subchapter is written with a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence with bold font. The discussion examines the data and explains its relation to the objectives and hypotheses and solution to proposed problem. The results are written first and then discussion, both arranged in a chapter.

1. Tittle of table written short, clear and independent. Table title is written in Indonesian and English. The table is numbered in accordance with the description in the text. Table description is written at the bottom of the table. The table which contains the result of citation must be mentioned the source. The table which contains data of statistical analysis result should include the level of trust and equip with CV, distinct notation written in lowercase.

2. Tittle of graph and picture written short, clear and independent, written in Indonesian and English. The picture title is written using a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence. The picture is numbered in accordance with the description in the text. The graphics data must attach and made using Microsoft Excel. Picture in form of black and white or color can be applied with contrast if it is necessary. The picture which contains the result of citation must be mentioned the source. The picture which contains data of statistical analysis result should include the ratio of r2/ R2 and level of trust. Notation of function must be written completely (axis x and y).

3. Decimal is written using a comma (,) instead of a point (.), maximum of two numbers behind a comma.

4. The number of the page of tables and pictures does not exceed 30% of the number of article pages.

Conclusion: Synthesis of results and discussion, briefly but clearly and answers the objectives, hypotheses and other findings during the research. Conclusion is written in narrative form, one paragraph. Equipped with implications, suggestions, or follow-up on the results.

Acknowledgments: Addressed to those who have assisted the author in completing activities and funding. Acknowledgement is written the name of the person [with a title] and or name of institution, as well as the type of its contribution.

References: Arranged alphabetically and contain author's name, year, title, the title of issue or magazine, volume, serial number and page and city published. Reference which downloaded from the website must be released by an authorized institution (not a blog or community), the website address and date of download. Reference must contain minimum 11, number of primary libraries ≥ 80%, and current (last 10 years). The citation and reference arrange using Mendeley with the University of Worcester-Harvard Style.
