Limbah Kelapa Sebagai Pupuk Organik Pada Bibit Kelapa (Cocos nucifera)

Abstract


Kebutuhan pupuk organik sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan dan mempertahankan kesuburan tanah. Daun kelapa dan debu sabut merupakan limbah kelapa yang banyak tersedia di lahan perkebunan kelapa, limbah ini berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku penyusun bahan organik, namun hingga saat ini belum dimanfaatkan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pupuk organik campuran limbah kelapa dengan kotoran ayam terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan di KP. Mapanget, BalitPalma Manado, Sulawesi Utara selama 8 bulan, di mulai September 2011 sampai Mei 2012. Bibit yang digunakan adalah bibit kelapa Dalam Mapanget umur 3 bulan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), dengan 4 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas : Tanpa pupuk (kontrol), pupuk NPK 50 g/bibit, pupuk NPK 50 g + pupuk organik 500 g/bibit, dan pupuk organik 500 g/bibit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pupuk organik limbah kelapa berpengaruh nyata terhadap peningkatan pertumbuhan tinggi bibit kelapa umur 6-9 bulan, dan lingkar batang bibit umur 7-9 bulan, namun pertambahan jumlah daun kelapa tidak berpengaruh nyata antar perlakuan. Peningkatan pertumbuhan tinggi dan lingkar batang bibit kelapa yang tertinggi diperoleh pada bibit yang dipupuk dengan pupuk NPK 50 g + pupuk organik limbah kelapa 500 g/bibit kelapa. ABSTRACT

Utilization of Coconut Waste as Organic Fertilizer on Coconut Seedling (Cocos nucifera)

Organic fertilizer requirement is needed to improve and maintain soil fertility. Palm leaves and coconut coir dust is a waste that is widely available in the coconut plantation, this waste has the potential to be used as raw material constituent of organic matter, but until now it has not been utilized. The research aimed to study the effect of coconut waste organic fertilizer mix with chicken manure on the growth of coconut seedlings. Research carried out in Mapanget Experimental Garden, Manado North Sulawesi for 8 months, starting September 2011 until May 2012. Seedlings used are coconut seedlings of Mapanget tall age of 3 months. The research using randomized block design (RBD), with 4 treatments and 6 replications. Treatment consists of: without fertilizer (control), 50 g of NPK fertilizer/seedling, 50 g fertilizer NPK + organic fertilizer 500 g/seedling, and organic fertilizer 500 g/seedling. The results showed that the use of coconut waste organic fertilizers significant effect on the increase in the high growth of coconut seedlings aged 6-9 months, and the girth of seedling age of 7-9 months, but the increase in the number of palm leaves was not significantly between treatments. The increase in high growth and the girth of the highest coconut seedlings obtained in seedlings fertilized with NPK 50 g + organic fertilizer waste oil 500 g/coconut seedlings.
