Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Umbi Kentang Kultivar Granola dengan Aplikasi Mepiquat Klorida di Dataran Medium Maja, Jawa Barat

Abstract


Abstrak. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi dan jumlah aplikasi optimum xat pengatur tumbuh (ZPT) mepiquat klorida untuk memaksimalkan pertumbuhan dan hasil umbi kentang kultivar Granola yang ditanam di dataran medium Maja, Jawa Barat. Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan tiga ulangan telah digunakan. Pemberian mepiquat klorida terdiri atas empat taraf konsentrasi, yaitu 4,6,8 ml/l diaplikasikan satu kali pada umur 42 hari setelah tanam dan yang diaplikasikan dua kali masing-masing setengah konsentrasi pada umur 35 dan 42 hari setelah tanam bibit umbi kentang dan kontrol, sehingga jumlah perlakuan ada sembilan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan tidak terjadi gejala fitotoksisitas klorosis, dan gejala abnormal lainnya pada tanaman kentang kultivar Granola yang disemprot laturan meiquat klorida tersebut, mepiquat  klorida konsentrasi 4 sampai 16 m/l yang diberikan satu atau dua kali mereduksi luas daun 17% sampai 37%, meningkatkan bobot umbi segar total sebesar 14% sampai 25%. Hasil bobot umbi tertinggi diperoleh dari pemberian mepiquat klorida konsentrasi 6 ml/l satu kali aplikasi pada 42 hst. Penerapan teknologi yang dihasilkan dapat menguntungkan melalui peingkatan hasil umbi kentang kultivar Granola sekitar 25% yang ditanam di dataran medium dengan pemberian ZPT yang tepat.

 

Abstract. Research has been carried out to find out the optimal concentration and optimal number of application of plant growth regulator mepiquat cloride and to maximize both the growth and yield of potato cv. Granola at Maja medium elevation (560 m above sea level). A Randomized Block Design wit three replications was set up in the field.Treatments consisted of four levels of mepiquat chloride concentrations, viz.4,6,8, 16 ml/l which were applied once at 42 days after planting nd twice in a half dosage at 35 and 42 days after plantng, respectively, and control. Research results revealed that there was no phytotoxicity symptom, no chlorosis, and abnormality on potatoplants cv. Granola treated with mepiquat cloride at concentration of 4 to16 ml/l for both at once and at twice have reduced leaf area by 17-37%, increased total fresh weight of potato tuber by 14% to 25%; however, the highest yield of potato tuber was gained from plants treated with mepiquat chloride 6 ml/l applied at 42 days after planting. The users may get benefit trough improvement of potato yield cv Granola around 255 which is cultivated in medium elevation with proper dosage and frequency of growth regulator application.
